Hello Again, World! What's New (and Not)

Life has been putting me on a continuous roller coaster yet again (a mini memoir is probably in order), hence yet another blogging hiatus.

I thought I'd post a little update since my last entry. There have been changes in my little corner of the world. Sadly, Pico the Chug (Chihuahua and pug mix) and Bunny the cat, my former furry editorial assistants (as pictured on my main website), crossed the Rainbow Bridge last summer, but now I have pretty darn pawesome new staff members, Ozzy (full name: Ozzy Dogsbourne) the Aussie Rottie (i.e., Australian shepherd and Rottweiler mix) and Luna the orange-and-white tabby. The former is the bigger, leaner version of Pico—the "reincarnation" of Pico or Pico 2.0. The latter is my husband’s sidekick.

Aside from hanging out with our four-legged family, my husband and I have picked up work in the entertainment industry as stagehands in bustling (and hustling) downtown Nashville. (I’ve also taken up a customer service position in the same industry.) It’s part of our reentry into the music world. We haven’t performed for quite some time. As for me, I haven’t performed professionally since the p(l)andemic lockdown. Anyhow, we’ve decided to go this route to diversify income sources and to have outlets for our various interests. (Yes, I’m a multipotentialite.) While stagehand work is fun—after all, we get to work for and with famous artists and bands and other celebrities—it’s also strenuous and demanding as well as spotty in terms of work schedule, so I plan to leverage this position into another more suitable opportunity in the industry when it arises.

As a freelancer, I've been mostly working on corporate copy editing and proofreading projects through an editorial agency as usual (since February 2021), and I've recently completed a book project (a self-help and memoir combo) on surviving a layoff. Also, as usual, I'm still accepting nonfiction and creative manuscript projects from indie authors while looking for corporate in-house editing opportunities at the same time. If any of you have industry or company connections, I'd really appreciate introductions and informational meetings. Let me know how I can help you in return. Thank you so much.
